I'm Perplexed By The Great Reviews L'Invitation au Voyage could have been great. The location is fairly close to Bordeaux's major landmarks. Our room was quaint, bright, with high ceilings and French doors looking out to the street. What brings down the offering is well worn, rough towels and not much service for the price. No maid service, etc., for four nights in our case. I'm equally baffled by reviews talking about a great breakfast, which factored into my choice. A basket with a croissant and a few pieces of bread and preserves: A small container of yogurt and coffee don't constitute even a continental breakfast. It also isn't available until 8:30 AM, many tours meet up at 9:00 AM. They cite “health measures“ for the absence of room cleaning, but every other hotel and B&B have figure…

I stayed at L’Invitation au Voyage a few months ago and truly enjoyed the experience. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Bordeaux, making it easy to explore the city on foot. The hospitality was outstanding. The welcome felt genuine and attentive, with a level of care that makes you feel more like a guest than a customer. What makes this place particularly special is its unique neo-classical style. The décor has character and elegance, combining charm and comfort in a way that feels both refined and welcoming. I would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a distinctive stay in Bordeaux.

Chambres : It is an old building without elevator. One has to be careful going down the slippery stairs. I stayed on the second floor, room on the left. The room smells moldy the ceiling has water stains. Window doesn’t close properly. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Wife and I spent 4nights in the Palais room. Beautiful, classic French style room, though the floorboards are very creaky - you will wake anyone in the room if you move around. Excellent location, walking distance to everywhere. A bit of street noise at night and in the morning, but you're in the centre of a city, so it's to be expected and many other streets are far worse. Breakfast is simple: croissant, coffee, juice, bread, jam. Fabrice, the host, is excellent - very friendly and helpful. Secure parking is also great. If you're looking for an apartment in Bordeaux and don't need room service/all-inclusive, this is the best option. Remember though - no card payments here, cash only!

Great B&B in a quiet neighborhood, in an old house, but in great shape. The rooms are very large and well equipped, with fridge, dishes, iron, even a dish washer; you could really live there. The owner is very nice and helpful, and prepares a generous continental breakfast every day. Rue St. Catherine is only two minutes away, Place de Bourse 15 min walk.

This BnB is well worth a visit on so many levels. This was purpose built as luxery apartments over 200 years ago and staying here feels that way. High high ceilings, awesome decor, beautiful layouts. The owner, Fabrice went above and beyond to help us.

Great location, beautiful rooms and very helpful owner. The only suggestion would be to offer more choice on the breakfast!
